The output voltage of my zyx r100 Yatra cart is 0.24mv my primare r32 has a gain of 62db on the mc setting is this enough gain for this cart

There's no such thing as "enough gain" as such. It's fine. Did you see my offer in the other thread?

Yes jez we are coming over tomorrow night I will borrow your hybrid phonostage does it have infinetly adjustable load settings for the cartridge so you can fine tune it to suit individual carts

I think what I was trying to get at was would I get more detail coming through if I added a bit more gain or would this just make the sound a bit trebly the r32 has jumpers inside you can adjust to get an extra 5db of gain

Loading is by loading plugs, the same as on the Arkless 640P and all other phono stages I make. I'll make up a set of 100 Ohm plugs.
It would be for just a few days as it's what I use day to day myself, but you may be interested to hear what a really top flight high end phono stage can do for your high end Yatra cartridge ;) It starts at £2000 for a version in cheap-ish casework and "normal" components and goes up from there depending on what preferences a customer may have in terms of casework "boutique" components, fancy phono sockets etc, so I would say an average build would be £2500 ish.

Gain makes no difference to tonal balance etc. There's no harm in trying it but I would expect it to just be louder for a given vol control setting.

Hi Steven
I to have an r32 and thought the 5db jumpers only related to the MM section of the amp?
Cracking amp though, its better than the other phono stages I've owned prior (Rega/Whest/Trichord).

Yeah the jumpers increase the gain for mm only. The primare is a superb phonostage but I recently demoed a jez arkless phonostage and it made the r32 sound a touch laid back were as the arkless was more dynamic and envolving in my system anyhow. At the mo I have his prototype hybrid mc phonostage and wow 1st impressions sound quality up a further level I have a seperate thread on this demo.
