Hi all,

I bought this on eBay.

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170104/3d6aab236c536a0ecbccdaa8d70e03bc.jpg

It needs some bits doing like a rewire, rubber wire protectors etc, all of which are easy to do/purchase.

However I need a 4 pin connector for it.

There are a few 774 Owners on here, do you have a spare one ? I know they are as rare as hen's teeth so I don't expect it to be free.

Alternatively, is there anything that could be used instead ??

Either way, if you've got a spare I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Oliver.

Put a close up pic of it on here, I might have something in the connectors box so I'll have a look.

Are the pins on 0.1 inch centres?

Yes, I saw that but I don't want to chance the type of female connector. I'd like to switch wands now and again so I'd rather keep the original.

Yeah know what you mean, I have 2 arms and 3 wands, one of which needs new tags.

There is no rule that says the arm has to use a mini plug & socket at all. If the arm wand is not likely to be moved often, why not just use a mini tag strip or similar and solder all wires to it.

Yes Geoff, I'd considered that but Id like the flexibility. It's probable I'd keep the new wand on and keep the other as a spare. Might just solder the connector on to the other arm instead.

PS : it's actually £30. 😯

Could go straight to the (unused) terminals on the back too I suppose.

I've been using one of these on my 774 and it works a treat. It has the advantages of having two contacts for each connection (it's actually a 10 pin connector), so reducing contact resistance, and also giving you a fifth pole which allows a separate earth connection, thus allowing balanced connection if wanted. The connectors themselves are available from RS I think, so it's no problem getting additional males for multiple arm tubes. Also, it's black, so IMHO it looks neater as well!

Thanks Mel,

Was hoping to get one for a bit less ! Seems very expensive for a tiny bit of plastic and metal.

Voila! Apologies for scruffy appearance! Close up flash does it no favours.

Looks good but I still prefer the red one. I think I'll just go for a new one.

Hi all,

Thanks for the help and advice. Mike, over at British audio, offered me just the Male connector for £15. So a sale has been done.

Thanks for the suggestion Vinylspinner.

Next : What to wire it with !
