Cleaning solution to use with DIY Cleaning machine ?

Hi all

just started to build a record cleaning machine using parts from an old Turntable and a wet/dry vacuum cleaner.

The electrical and mechanical side I am fine with but once built I will need a solution to use cleaning the record and its grooves

Anyone got any recommendations for a Home Brewed solution.

I am in the UK so can only use what we are legally allowed to buy over here.

Mixture of distilled water and isopropyl alcohol 70:30 by volume with a little photo wetting agent e.g. Kodak Photoflo or the Ilford equivalent (about 5 cc per litre of fluid i.e. a teaspoon per L)

Water from Halfords or chemist. Isopropyl alcohol from Maplins or chemist

Totally agree with the above post 70/30 + wetting agent but will just add be quite liberal when applying the solution, give the record a good amount.

Spot on formula for successful cleaning fluid. I buy the water in bulk in 25litre drum and a gallon of alcohol at a time. cheap enough on eBay.

Phew, making a gallon or two of cleaning fluid at a time. That's a lot of record cleaning !!!!!!!
