Sorry, if the answer is already in the archives. Can't really find any satisfying results in the search.

What is the differences. Between the plain vanilla CS300, and the more uppity XS model?

Do both models sound noticeably familiar?

I did quite a bit of research into this as I am on the look out for a standby amp.

The xs uses upgraded components, some minor circuit tweaks, and according to reviewers sounds markedly better - though I can't attest to that - and a reviewers markedly better might equate to subtly better/different in the real world.

This explains the numbers of basic model on and off eBay in the last few months when last year they were like hens teeth.
