Its a wonderful combination with the harbeths - open detailed without being harsh - sounding very analogue - It has a great grip on these speakers plenty of power, it really draws you into the music.

Thank you. I've been looking for a standby amp so my Cary's can finally go in for a service/upgrade and then use the standby in a second system. I've been watching accuphase on the bay and been sorely tempted many times - they look gorgeous and review very well depending on model. I almost pulled the plug on an A20 class A power amp but chickened out...

Just setting up the Velodyne DD12 to blend in with the main speakers for the lower octaves.

Greg, I see you are into 80s Soul. I have been searching for a track that I think may have only appeared on a compilation. It is a vocal version of Grover Washington's Mister Magic. It was a female vocalist, that's all I can tell you I am afraid!

In the 70s I used to buy a lot of my stuff from Contempo Soul Source in Hanway St, Soho, London. This was the tiny "dive" up a rickety spiral staircase run by the guys behind Blues and Soul Magazine (Dave Godin etc) Standing room only (if you were lucky). Great times.

Rob the ones that i am aware of are Kelle Patterson on shadybrook i think that may be earlier however, try that one or Carmen McRae / Roberta flack are other versions. Most of my records like you have been dug out over the years - I had some very good contacts not just in the UK but abroad and lot of my grails were picked up years ago when prices were not so high .

Good to have a fellow groover in the house .

Greg, sadly neither of those are it. The only thing I can remember is that the compilation was a sort of Acid Jazz/Disco/Hip Hoppy sort of thing. Stabbing in the dark really. Thanks for trying.

The only female link I have with Grover Washington is Patti Labelle, but not unfortunately on Mister Magic.

Looks a really great space and lovely kit there Greg. Those Accuphase amps are aesthetically very pleasing on the eye and by most accounts very pleasing on the ear too. Certainly one to consider when I make some changes again!

Thankyou loz they sound lovely with the baby harbies really cant see myself changing, just sounds so right. Rob i do remember vaguely a eighties version of mister magic - i need to sort out my eighties pile or mountain more like ,if i come across ill give u a shout

So things have moved on, I knew they wouldnt last - Harbies sold , accuphase sold - But not all lost , looking at moving up the chain , accuphase pre pro / harbeths m40 maybe .

In the interim i said i wasnt going back to the dark side of home theatre but tempation was futile, new 2nd listening space, at least I have some space to store more records, win win in my book !

thanks guys .The coving lighting can be changed to reflect mood, so, all the colours of the rainbow its been fun experimenting !

Its not quite finished yet ,still to do room acoustics ie bass traps and some sort of artpanels on the back wall- Ive got some acoustic curtains coming in from Thomman de so hopefully that will tame some in room nodes

The equipment list again its in a constant state of flux , but currently in situ arcam AVR 550 - oppo 203 - Arcam p7 x2 ( have been playing with some bryston amps which mostly likely will stay - Nautilus 802 - kef 9000 ace as rear surround and backs and 4 x kef In ceiling for Atmos and a couple of velodyne DD12's.

The digital front end is sotm sms 200 into iso regen. Currently playing with chord dacs but not decided yet, so still open - Senns Hd800 and Stax are on order as I miss the ones I sold :(

i will somehow intergrate a vinyl replay system but as I will have a 2nd system for critical listening possibly not as a high priority .

Back up to the office , decided once again to seperate the audio from the visual ! - A couple of things to note , my newly aquired Vpi is on its way and on the lookout for some class d mono blocks to drive the 802's .
Finally, some room treatments, swaying towards the skyline diffuer, most likely DIY it, he says !

Couple of small updates. Just purchased a shed load of wood , will be attempting some skyline diffuser panels and just spoke to a company
who will be printing on speaker cloth for me so i can fabricate some trendy acoustic panels.

I think it turned out ok, the quandary is now do i paint it , as the natural tones don't really work in the room , Thoughts ?

Monos arrived - bel canto ref 1000 mk 2 , these have gripped the 802 , bass definition improvements ,micro dynamics with a sense of more air and soundstage has widened.

To do still acoustic treatments , skyline diffuser at the ear cutting off stage ! and then to fabricate 6 panels . next job !
