Up for sale is my modified Grado Reference Series Master 1 cart. This is about as good as it gets for MM (slightly less dynamic than the Nagaoka mp500) if musicality, timbre and soundstage is important to you. There are some excellent reviews on line.
So why my little modification? If there is one flaw with the Grado cocobola wood bodies it is the rigidity of the body itself - I noticed some play in both the top wooden insert and the rear connection panel. I fixed a 1g aluminium shim/plate and potted the rear connection panel. The difference was astounding - bass especially tightened up and front to back information increased.
It tracks flawlessly and has about 150 hours on it. Hasn't been used for almost a year since I bought the Allaerts.
Looking for £150 ono.
