Hello to all. My name is Steve though most people call me by my surname "Petch". I am the new kid on the block. I hope to become part of your community. I am passionate about music especially prog rock and of course hi-fi. At present i am more of a vinyl head than digital. However, if something sounds musical i have an open mind. I live in the North East of England. My current system comprises, Nottingham Analogue Hyperspace/Ace space, Tom Evans Microgroove+, Modified Inca Design Katana se CD player,ATC CA2 pre-amp/ Beard P100 tube power amp and Ruark Crusader speakers. This is my main system. Please refer to my profile should you want to know about anything else. Hopefully speak to you about music and hi-fi soon.

Regards to you all

Hi Steve,

Welcome to AoS :)

Very nice system - in terms of music, I think you'll have much in common with our resident expert Andre :gig:

Anyway, get stuck in and enjoy!

Marco.

Hi Andre

I hear what your saying and i thoroughly agree. However, we need to keep the flame burning. Some bands are doing that. Being as we both are ELP nuts you will be aware of Combination Head. They are one such band. there are some others to discuss but only if you are interested. I noticed your signiture as being "prog is not a dirty word" and i tried to contact you to inform you of a website that i have set up with a similar premise. You are so right, Prog is not a dirty word. If you would like to know about my site let me know, otherwise we will discuss things between ourselves. Classic prog as we both know it cannot survive as it's main exponents are either in some form of retirement, illness, dying or indeed dead! Such is the state of our beloved genre. Great to see Gigers finest as your Avatar. Hope to hear from you soon.

Steve thanks but no thanks.. You web site mentions tripe like: IQ, Combination Head, Pendragon, Porcupine Tree, Spocks Beard, Wobbler, Glasshammer etc. me nay think so, i refuse to post on a forum that mixes that lot with proper prog.

Ah ! Another prog lover !

Now, that's really nice, I know little about prog (although it's my favorite music), so I'm sure I'll learn plenty of new things. :)
(and, contrarily to Andre, I like Porcupine Tree, be it "prog" or not, hehe )

Andre is a right wing fundamentalist Proger (anything after 1973) is not the kind of Prog he likes..which is fair enough. Though I think hes been a bit rude/touchy here (on this thread), sorry Andre just an opinion.

I on the other had, likes all sorts from all periods.

You are very, very welcome.....

Hi Steve,
Welcome to the Art of Sound. I like most of your system but can't comment on the CD player as I've never heard or seen it in the flesh.

Most of us prefer to welcome new members a little more magnanimously than Andre just has. I hope we can make up for that with some stimulating and informative discussion.

Cheers

Hi Petch

Hope you enjoy yourself here, it's a good place though I've been a bit quiet lately. That should change soon I hope.

Like your system, I use to own a NA Dais, really enjoyable TT's the NA's.

I actually live across the Tees from you in Redcar, though I work at Hartlepool.

Anyway enjoy and have fun.

Hello Petch. I'm a massive Prog fan both old and new. I love the concept Prog and the non concept Prog. It's all just Prog to me. My favourite though has to be early Camel.

I saw Camel live once at the Brummie Odeon. Fantastic band.

I'm a big fan of Yes and Genesis too... oh and Porcupine Tree http://www.technobear.btinternet.co.uk/emoticons/thumbup.gif
