I have got specs for the hifi furniture off the boss.
she says the best option would be gloss red (which actually sounds a lot better than i was expecting from her)
so ideas please

i need a rack, maybe 2 racks
they need to be able to be built to my spec (within reason) so modular would be best
they also need to be strong enough to hold the new power amp on the top shelf

i also need some kind of wall bracket for the record player

(steve: can i get a link to the brand you suggested again please)

I think that Steve thought you might like the Sunoko-Vent :)

Yea that's the bugger... Bugger, no red!
Any other ideas
she's taking about it having solid sides
I think we are talking about vibration reduction via solidity rather than vibration absorbtion by design if that makes sence?

I think one modular rack with a tt shelf above

You want red? Lol! Why?

I'm afraid that I don't know any good equipment furniture with solid sides...

Why not get one of the D.I.Y bods here to build you something bespoke? :)

Not a bad idea, any volunteers?
As for red, hannah likes colourful things, she is mad as a bag of frogs don't forget, bright colours make her happy (I'm not even joking) ... I have just asked her if I can post this, she says yeah I don't care, I'm not fucking mad! (just for a bit of perspective for you! :) )

Del's the same, mate - red is her fav colour! :)

I just feel that if you want solid sides (and it to be red) a bespoke rack is gonna be the best option. You'll then also be able to specify shelf dimensions and a whole bunch of other stuff - may as well go to town on it, dude, and make it a 'Hamish special'! ;)

Why not start a separate thread in the D.I.Y room asking our experts there for their assistance in your project?

I know what your saying, cost is a factor though!
There must be some mass produced hifi furniture out there without the solid side that I could temp her with!

There probably is, Hamish - but the solid sides thing rules out the decent stuff, IMO...

(Decent quality) commercial stuff is probably liable to cost you more, too. As long as you use relatively cheap materials like MDF, and keep things simple, D.I.Y options should be fine :)

Cant think of anything Red, but good wood for a DIY or joiner made rack is solid wood kitchen worktops.

Ikea for example:

cheap way of getting some decent looking wood to make stuff with.

Not sure if you could go wide rather than tall - but this looks lovely: (Well, to me!)

A solid-sided rack is not likely to enhance the sonic performance of your system. Also that valve pre of yours will not thank you for being enclosed. It needs ventilation.
True beauty is form and function working in harmony and that means prioritising the functionality.

Those guys at Audio Works might be persuaded to make you a Revo rack (the dog's bollocks in terms of sonic performance as well as being strong enough) in red acrylic.

If you fancy something bespoke in wood & not red. Then check out Russ Collinson. He will make pretty much what you ask him for!

He makes some lovely TT plinths. His website doesn't show too much of his audio work though http://www.layers-of-beauty.co.uk/

Cheers, alfie
