just changed the caps in a pair of ditton 15's.
i was a bit sceptical about how much affect this would have, some say night and day and some say they heard no difference.
the originals where dated 1971 so i thought it couldnt hurt to change them.
i used like for like 12 uf alcaps'
i wouldnt say it was a night and day difference, but they do sound quite a bit better, clearer if you like.
cheers
Mike.

New caps (there's only one) can make a difference with the Ditton 15. Good little speakers, I've had a few pairs.

Have you heard a pair of Mordaunt Short Pageant 2 speakers. If you like the Dittons, you'd love those. They sell for about the same money.

2 caps if you do both speakers
yeah the 15's are cool, fun little speakers... crank the volume and watch em bounce..

Hi, Marco, just out of interest what made you go for Jantzens?

Hi Andrew,

Liked the ethos of the design, and spec, and I also knew of Jantzen's good reputation for superb products [Glenn C rates them, too] :)

thanks, read your thread buddy, glad you had fun and a positive outcome with it, its what its all about innit, squeezin the most out of what you have..
an i agree with the na-na plugs,, so much easier than the screw type thing on the 15's, its like surgery tryna get speaker cable on them....
cheers
Mike.

Still enjoying my Ditton 15XRs with original caps, i am a little wary about changing the speakers original balance. I do though keep wondering how this little speaker would sound active, though i guess as the xover is so simple perhaps not much to be gained, but i have a 2 way naxo sitting idle.

First thing that came to mind :eyebrows:

<Off topic, where did you get the tall radiator from?>

Gosh, picked it up from a small plumbing supply company operating from a small lock up unit near where i work, must be best part of 10 years ago. I cant even remember the traders name, but they stopped trading a long long time ago. Sorry.
