New vinyl and silent groove noise

So I'm listening to a new Yello Toy album and consistently across both discs there's a fluttering, almost scrapey sound on the right channel only, between tracks. I've noticed this (though not always right side) with a couple of new albums. Set up is perfect so is this just poor pressing?

recycled vinyl/poor "compounding" of the vinyl?
Thing is this would be throughout the vinyl causing distortion but just masked by the music/non silent passages. Send it back.

This seems to happen a lot lately, pretty much every other LP I get has this horrible groove noise. Sometimes during a certain part of the LP but sometimes throughout the whole side. Don't know what causes it but I know it's not normal. If I had to guess I reckon it could be recycled vinyl (or vinyl which is not upto scratch but used anyway).

Cart set up. Redo it all paying attention to azimuth and stylus distance. It can also be anti skate and downforce.

Had the same experience with some new vinyl. I'd say I may give up on new vinyl and buy old but even then reputable second hand dealers are saying " near mint shows very little signs of being played " and it's shite and have to return it.

sometimes difficult getting good vinyl second hand.. always has been tbf one mans near mint is anothers near fcked;)

I've been very lucky with second hand buys (exception being Spanish sellers) including a 'sealed' 20 year old Neville Brothers album - which turned out to be exactly that. New albums are often off centre or warped but im hoping that with the revival in vinyl this will change.

I have two copies of this album and they both do exactly the same, record 2 both sides noise from right channel until about mid way through. I was beginning to think my Delos was faulty, glad to hear it's the album itself! I was almost going to trade it in for a new one!!!!

I agree, fantastic sound indeed. It's strange but if you look at the records under decent light (halogen for example) they don't look all one colour, if looks like they've been gone over with a paint brush, you'll see what I mean!

What pressing is this you're talking about? (Yello - Toy)
Mine is dead silent (obviously regarding vinyl hash, pop, and clicks), completely flat and sounds absolutely top notch!
Mine is German made, Matrix numbers from side A:
4760259 A AF. BF V3346-0V AV Centraldubs
The "V"s are turned upside down, but i couldn't find a symbol for it on the iPad.

Will check the matrix, though I know the album says produced in Germany.

If you're into yello and like the vocals on Toy (mostly malia) then you should give Convergence with Malia and Boris Blank a listen. Excellent.

Yep, reckon at least 50% of new vinyl buyers don't even play them. Sad really.

Really? Why would anyone buy it and not play it? Saying that 2 of my students have asked my advice about buying a TT - and quickly changed their minds when it's been pointed out they need more than something that spins!
