View Full Version : FS Celestion Ditton 15 XR Pristine Cabinets

Hello,
I have a pair of Celestion Ditton 15XRs, the cabinets, grills, bass drivers and ABRs are in absolutley pristine mint condition, and i mean PRISTINE!.

But... one tweeter is blown. I have ordered two replacement 8ohm diaphrams which i believe are fairly easy to change with a little care. The diaphrams have not arrived with me yet but i will include them with the speakers.

Too many projects on the go so decided to let these go. I would like to get around 100quid for these, but i am open to offers.

Collection from Leeds would be best for me, and safest, though i will post at cost if you insist.

Again as i hope you can see the general condition is as new, astonishingly good for speakers of this age.

I think you would have to wait a long time to find a pair as fresh as these. Of course if someone out there has a spare Ditton 15XR tweeter for reasonable money i may just be tempted to keep them.

But as it is, i just have too much on the go, so go they must.

That would be my course of action, Steve, as they are very good speakers. My advice would be to pop DarrenHW a PM (a member here) whom I believe has spare parts for various Celestion speakers, and he may well have a spare tweeter for your 15XRs :)

If so, fit it your speakers, and while you're at it, re-cap the crossovers (there is only one capacitor in each crossover), with some good current production polyproplene types, and trust me, you'll *never* think of selling them again! :trust: ;)

Honestly mate, if you fix the tweeter and do the cap mods, you'll not look back! Pop Darren a PM and see what he's got. He's always in car boot sales picking up this and that! :cool:

Not wishing to jump on the thread but if Steve does want to sell them Al if you are looking to buy them, work on them and then sell - bear me in mind ... If they are for your own use apologies ! I've just been interested in giving Cel a try and these look pretty good --- but can understand if Steve wants to keep them !

Ok, I have contacted Darren, unfortunatly he dosent have a spare tweeter at the moment. There is one other person i know who may have one, a long shot, i am waiting for a response. So please bare with me.

Well, i managed to get hold of an 8 ohm tweeter, and your right, i think i will hang on to them for now.

They are a very entertaining fun speaker. Not recapped them as yet, enjoying them very much as they are, but i have a pair of cheapo 4.7mfd, 5% polypropylenes standing by.

Those will be fine, just give them a try when you fancy.
