So... when was the last time you used a public phone?

Well, I used one last week... and guess what? It worked and I got a taxi!

Use them or not, I believe the old type red telephone boxes are an iconic staple to Britain.

Plenty of them get converted in to different use too which is really nice.

BT are going to start ripping them up soon so if you know of an old tired red phone box, why not adopt it for just £1.

And save our red telephone boxes, regardless of it's state.

Think there is still one on front street not far away. dunno if it works or if the box is just that. With mobiles everywhere, I guess they are pretty redundant now ... the last operating ones I saw were all card, so might as well not work.

Indeed they are redundant but the old red box needs to stay.

There are plenty around us that have defibrillators inside, some have shelves in them and used as a library, and some have notices for the community. Lots of great and very useful ideas for them to remain standing.

Once they are gone, that's it. And I think it's a real shame.

Having them converted into defibrillator sites is a very good use of old telephone boxes.

Am I reading this correctly ?
Members of the public can't have one only local authorities

Some in London seem to have already had a 'change of use' - to either a urinal, or as a place for prostitutes and those offering 'relief massage' to leave their business cards.

Shocking!!;). So they are still like that then? I was in london 35 years ago and that card was there then. She must be a bloody pensioner now

There was a Police Box around here decades ago, but I guess that the famous Doctor stole it.

I was tempted many years ago when they first sold them off.
£300 I believe. Might be an investment but it's cast and rather heavy.

I've read of people buying them and turning them into shower cubicles. Cool!

£300 is cheap... they go for around £2k now and the older ones go for over £18k!!

They'll be selling the post boxes next if they aren't already. Couple of George VI would make good speaker cabs, plenty of mass. :)

Or turn one into a CD player, lots of space for a nice big display and a ready made slot to shove a disc in.
