I am contemplating moving up to a pair of Firebottle Monoblocks in the new year, so my superb Firebottle AIR hybrid amp may be up for sale very shortly.

Of course, if someone makes me an offer and wants this ASAP, I will make do with my Arcam Alpha 10P (a poor substitute) until Alan has a chance to build me some mono blocks.
It uses a PCC85 valve, and I will include a couple of spares with the amp (I need to check what they are if anybody is interested). It's currently fitted with a Valvo PCC85.

I am after £450 + £10 towards the P&P costs.

Some great kit going for sale here but nowt shifting. My excuse is I've just replaced an entire roof on the manor so my purchases are curtailed for the foreseeable.

Maybe it'll pick up in the new year.

I know you feel...
I am doing my roof in spring.

Kevin,

I seen you we're really taken with Alan's own set mono blocks.
I may be tempted to ask Alan to build me a pair of monoblocks later, due to lack of funds at present but I will certainly not be parting with my Air.

The monoblocks just take the Air a step further....
If I get the monoblocks, I am happy to let someone else enjoy the Air.

Personally, not very well.
Have a look at this - http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?27683-Macca-s-Lash-Up&p=697499#post697499 and http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?40344-Firebottle-Power-Amplfier&p=710701#post710701

Since this post, Alan has modified the circuit to make improvements in the soundstage, making it sound more open than before.

I know nothing about this power-amp, never heard of it but would it work connected to a Promitheus Audio TVC passive pre-amp might you know..? My speakers are 88db efficient etc.

Where about's are you based please? I'm on the lookout for a power amp (or mono-blocks) at the minute.

Peter

I heard the Firebottle Air over at Alans place last week and it sounded excellent feeding a pair of Quad ESL 57s . Not only did it sound very good , it's beautifully built .
I've dealt with Kevin on a number of occasions and he's a real gent . I'd love to have this myself but unfortunately finances are a bit tight at the moment .

I am not sure if it will work with a passive pre, as I have never tried.
I assume that it would.

Will work with a passive with no problem.
The unit you have has a high and low impedance input, selected on the front 'mute' switch.

Hi Kevin,
Can you just clarify this, are you saying Alan has modified your Air amp or that's what he has done with later models?

Thanks, Ian

My AIR is at the latest mod standard.
Alan modified it for me to give the high and low impedance selections on the front mute switch.
