However the amp is a Musical Fidelity Nuvista 800 at 300 watts per channel. Will this unit provide enough current at higher listening levels? I'm using an Isol8 axis dc blocking plugboard which is certainly an improvement but my mains is pretty variable in quality.

Recommended the AG1500:

The AG1500 I purchased from Power Inspired has transformed the sound of my system and I was using good quality mains filtering previously. A great product at a very reasonable price. Almost inaudible in my listening room with the fan adjusted-the fridge in the adjoining kitchen is louder! It has completely eradicated the problems I had with a poor to ordinary domestic mains supply."

Well I'm pleased to say - the zizzing noise is all but disappeared - now only audible with one's ear really close to the mains and output transformer casing on the power amplifier. SO pleased to say your unit has achieved what it was expected of it; clean mains. What may also be of interest to you, is I'm sure you know most Valve Power Amplifiers need to have the bias to the valves adjusted from time to time. What I have noticed, is that since fitting the AG 1500 into my system the bias voltage has been ROCK Steady and I mean rock steady never varies. It will over time as the valves usage and wear takes hold of the valve working life but 230v is what it says on the screen when the incoming voltage can vary over quiet a wide range, and I must assume this variable mains voltage is what was influencing the bias voltage variation until the AG1500 was installed!

Sound Quality - not easy to comment however - I am sure the sound stage is not only wider but more forward in presentation! Previously the sound stage was between and behind the speakers...
My room is not ideal and my speakers Reference 3A are good with lots of detail and clean bass for a stand mount albeit not to deep...

So a result! A great unit and excellent value for money!"

Combined with the ATC SCM 50ASL Finest Fidelity, McIntosh D100 and a Auralic Aries it's an clearly significant improvement. The room opens wide, instruments are fixed at it's location and the bass get's more accuracy and definition. It's a serious improvement!

The second setup is a combination which shows every change of the equipment absolute dramatic: An Auralic Aries, a McIntosh D100 and a MalValve Headamp three plus Stax SR-007MKII (the 2.5er). It's with the AG500 like moving in a different world. It's no longer listening to recordings - it's so close to the perfect illusion. And it's with the AG500 indeed a huge and significant step forward.
I would say: Highly recommended.

My problem was: I had days when everything sounds wonderful. And the next hour, the next day it has been gone. With this experience it's clear to me: It depends on the quality of the power grid and that's absolute unpredictable. With the Power Inspired AG1500 and AG500 PWM it stay's constantly on the top level."
