Something nice for Christmas?

Anyone getting anything nice for Christmas, music or hifi related?

I have a couple of LP,s hopefully turning up and have bought a new stylus for my 2M black, expensive but hopefully will give a few more years with this superb cartridge.

Dunno. I have a few quid burning a hole in my pocket, so anything could happen! :eek:

(of course, I could just treat myself to another motorbike or car instead or even be sensible and not spend it :D)

Well I've got only two now, having just sold one and I've got a small bike, but a larger bike is a possibility. Funny thing is, at a time of year when bike sales are low, prices seem to be silly high at the moment for decent second hand examples. Should be the other way around.

Getting a Tanberg cassette tape deck and A Kindle paperwhite, in white. Probably a bottle of JD as well. Much more than many and more than I deserve :eyebrows: Having an xmas lunch and a boxing day dinner i think too. Might get myself something headphone wise in the sales if anything appears with right pricetag. Not historically a good time for me the xmas period with my dad, son and wife all dying around xmas, but the grandkids always help, so "Bring it On":D

Why not give them a list of hi-fi things you'd like, stuff that's affordable (although perhaps your wife could stretch to getting you something bigger), and let them all buy you something different from the list?

That way you're guaranteed of getting something you like/want, and the surprise factor will still be there because you won't know exactly which items you've got until you unwrap them! Job done :)

Christmas for us actually means just one thing.

Food.

Nope...two things...and drink. A nice warm sinking into the armchairs, full of pud, mince pies and a wee dram.

We do not give presents or expect them. This is partly bah humbug and partly that, if we want anything particularly, we get it then. Why the hell should we wait for Christmas? The push for exchanging gifts means that half of the time, at least, unwanted rubbish will be on eBay by Jan 1st.

As far as bah humbug is concerned, no tree, no decorations, no wrapping paper clogging up the house and the usual snide remarks about the, admittedly few, French people who fit a million lights to the outside of their houses in the shape of Santa, Rudolf etc. Look at me......

This is the first year we have put up a tree for a while. We also have fitted a few festive lights inside the house. All for the benefit of my daughter.

Christmas is all about family for me, and I share a similar view to Gordon as far as presents are concerned. The daughter obviously gets a few carefully chosen presents. We try not to spoil her, but with Grand parents, it is difficult.

I was lucky enough to get some nice vinyl, Portishead - Dummy, Neil Young - Harvest, Bob James - One, and The Fog and Truck Turner soundtracks.

We are all vinyl fans in this house, so we each cheat a bit by writing a want list with a dozen or so albums we would be happy to get, then we pick a couple to give as pressies. Still a bit of a surprise and always albums we want.

My wife (with some assistance) bought me a Milty Zerostat (http://www.mains-cables-r-us.co.uk/equipment-supports-cleaning-more/464-milty-zerostat-anti-static-device.html), and I'm chuffed to bits with how well it works. Easily as good as I'd read. After cleaning and a quick couple of zaps, my LPs sound splendid.

I got three of the newly remastered Pink Floyd albums; Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, The Wall. I am so glad to have good copies on vinyl, cuz I just haven't bought these enough in the past :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Mrs C bought me "The Southern Harmony & Musical Companion" by The Black Crowes on CD, which I only had on cassette. My life feels more complete now :)
