Just checking this out as I have a DAC that I'm playing with. I've made some discrete Opamps for the output stage.

Question is on the CS4396 I have noticed that one channel floats at 180mV while the other floats at around 0V.

Is this normal??

Outputs on CS4396 should be at about half of the reference supply, i.e. +2.5V with 5V on the reference input (pin 28) . Differential offset (the voltage between two balanced outputs for a single channel) should be not more than few mV.

You made the discrete opamps yourself? I'm very impressed already, have you compared them to any other opamps yet?

Thanks Alex, The difference between + & - outputs are indeed only a few mV. I'm not sure why the right channel sits at about 180mV and the left around 0V.:scratch:

I will have to look into that maybe one of the opamps has been made up wrong.

The Rockst4r, I will send a pic in soon. They are a fairly basic design with 7 transistors but point to point soldered.

Just have to double them to see WTF is going on.
