spent yesterday making a new board for my TT,the plywood one was fine but i wanted to try an ebony one.
it made a big difference when i did the same to my old AR tt so a trip to timberline in tonbridge to buy a piece of ebony and on my return i got stuck in!
as id already done the hard bit with the plywood one (marking and cutting out holes etc) i just used this on top of the ebony blank and trimmed it to size using a flush cutting router bit.
i sanded it done from 80 grit to 400 grit and then applied a couple of coats of shellac sanding sealer.
lastly a coat of wax,i went with this method of finishing because i didn't want a sickly gloss finish.
arm mounting collar fitted and a test fit,

alignment checked and adjusted and ready to hear if there's any change in sound.

the answer is yes, well to my ears at least!
the mid range has come forward a bit revealing more detail and the highs are more dynamic,in particular the cymbals, well worth the effort and the mess in the kitchen, black dust everwhere! lol
