A Bit of Advice...if I am in the right place?!

I've been a bit out of the loop for the last ten years and obviously things have moved on quite a bit in that time.
My system is Naim Nait 3 and CD 3.5, my question is this....
I listen to a lot of uploaded sets from Paul van Dyk's VONYC Sessions on Youtube. Is there a way of running this through my hi-fi? I know I can use the headphone jack directly from my laptop - but I am worried about sound degredation as well as it not being very practical in terms of where I can sit my laptop. What can I do, if anything? Are there any decent cables out there or devices that can do this for me? Sorry if I am being a bit thick...I just don't really know what is on the market these days. I've read about the Squeezboxes, but would they work for audio from Youtube? And is the sound any good?

First, get a Flatcap to feed the CD output and preamp sections of your amp (there used to be a mod available to split the pre and power sections of your amp and the CD3.5 has the extra supply socket already there. A BIG improvement I assure you and since these units are long out of production, a third party such as Avondale maybe able to assist... The difference in sound quality from ALL inputs isn't small and well worthwhile, especially with modern digital sources.

You can get a USB to SPDIF converter such as I use for not much or alternatively, do it properly with the likes of a Beresford DAC. This has a USB input and good quality output which can feed a spare line input on your amp, Good DIN-RCA leads can be got from a number of good online suppliers at a fraction of the cost of a Naim dealer's stock.

I have always liked the Rega DAC too, but the extra money would be FAR better spent elsewhere for now ;)

Hi - thanks so much for all the info! Yes, my dad has suggested this with the amp.. It's just back from Les after a service so will need to wait a while before I spend any more pennies. I will have a look into what you say for the DAC. The Beresford DAC looks good. Is there such a thing as a wireless DAC?

There are. They use Bluetooth. You can however something like e Caiman SEG into a wireless DAC by using it with a Bluetooth audio adapter. I actually use two of them. Each one can stream a different music track to a different part of the house. Mind you, I can already do the same with my two pieces of the SB Touch.
