Gents, I have an unusual request.

A friend's son is doing a design structural course at college and after a suggestion from me (I have a smallish set) has decided that the very thing to use is Geomag, a magnetic construction system that was popular a few years back.

http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv187/twelvebears/geomag.gifhttp://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv187/twelvebears/geomag2.jpg

Unfortunately, due to a death in the US caused by the cheap imitation version Magnetix (Geomag is made in Switzerland), it's basically impossible to get hold of here without nabing odd bits off of eBay but it is still available in Europe.

There is also a far eastern version called Bornimago which is made in China, which while not as good is produced in large sets and is cheap.

Basically I'm looking for a kind AOS member based outside the UK who would be willing to help me track down a source of either Geomag (preferably) or alternatively Bornimago, as Jacob (my friend's boy) will need quite a lot to work with.

If it's a no-go, he'll have to have a rethink.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Many thanks.

The Geomag you have at amazon.co.uk won't do you mean ? It is a specific model ?

No it's all the same stuff but a) he needs LOADS (i.e. several hundreds of pieces) and b) he really wants it in a controlled number of colours.

Unfortunately I've tried the Geomag Store guy and he's a small-time 'back room trader' who carries almost no stock and shows little interest even when I was talking about an order worth a few hundred pounds.

I really need to find a proper retailer in Europe somewhere for Geomag or someone in the far east who can get hold of Bornimago.

It's proving a challenge. Hence the call for help.

Hi Stan.

Thanks for that but I've already tried contacting them direct with no success. Probably because I'm an individual rather than a wholesaler. That's why I need someone who lives overseas (Hong Kong would be ideal) who can actually make an enquiry in a big toy store that stocks it.

Have tried finding a HK based shop with an online site but no luck either. :(

Have you tried asking for some on your local Freegle.

Sometimes they can come up trumps, and this stuff isn't all that rare.
