I knew someone who made that same claim. After three incorrect guesses at my birth sign, I told her what it actually was. Her response was that I couldn't possibly be that sign, and there must have been a mix-up with my birth certificate!

As I'm a logical guy, I would say that there are more than 12 (or 144) character types.
I'm a Sagittarius ascending Scorpio. If you can guess my character, I would be amazed. ;)

she's not always right, she's not really into it either, she's not a hippy type, she just has the nack for it! I don't buy into it either, but I wouldn't disregard it! I don't understand what gravity and magnetism are but I can see that they both have a huge effect on the world around me - tides for example or anything with a motor in it and my speakers... I don't understand why or how but I wouldn't rule out these things having an effect on me .... Weather or not they effect personality etc ... Well I can def see that there would be broad debate, but I wouldn't rule it out nobody has even given me just cause not to belive it! I'm happy for it all to just be something I don't understand, it's not doing me any harm that way so that's the way it stays!

nope, im always this open minded! like i said i dont buy into it, i dont read my star signs, and when they are read to me i laugh at how generic they are! but no one has even given me any solid evidence to say that it is a load of shite and i have had enough little bits of evidence that there might be something in it to belive it might be a possibility... so i dont rule it out! and like i said the gravity of the moon effects our oceans every day so why, as a being made af majority water, should i belive that it is having no effect on me! im not saying it is for sure ... i just dont know enough about gravity and magnetism and all that to rule it out! why would i??
But star signs are based on random groupings of stars billions of miles away from each other and from us!

its one of those things that doesnt really matter nless people exploit it! i cant stand the fact that people make loads of money from these premium phone lines.. its just a bit of fun isnt it!
if you get one of those bits of softwaer thatyou put your time and date of birth into and it regergatates a load of info by cross refrancing the various astrological calenders, it can make interesting reading, i have one somewhere and its quite uncanny the detail it goes into and i cant find anything in it that isnt true ... hannah has one too and it doesnt relate to me at all.... but like i said i dont buy into it, its just a bit of fun! people who run thier lives buy it though... i think that is very worrying!

Yes, I programmed such a software once for giving astrology previsions and character mainlines...
Gosh, I know I shouldn't say that... but... it has nothing to do with astrology : you can pick almost any bunch of sentences and make sense whatever happens.
It's semantic stuff : self-justifying logic. Everybody's mind works like that : you're bound to find it works. ;)

Thinking about it though, hannah's is pretty acurate, it even talks about her mental disorder (she has borderline personality disorder) it even gave dates when it would be at it's worst, the one date it said when we looked back turned out to be a date she had ended up in hospital with it... Of course it could be coincidence??
Hamish there's only one way of knowing :
Count the exact number of cases where each single thing in a prevision is true, then the exact number when things written are false or inaccurate.
If you're (roughly) at 50-50, then it's what I'm talking about..

If I make a random assertion - say that the earth is actually under the control of superintelligent jelly babies on the planet Zornon (which it is, as it happens) - and then argue that because there are "no facts about it either way" it could be true, you would probably argue that I was required to provide a higher standard of evidence than that.
I like the idea that the more preposterous the assertion, the greater the standard of evidence needed to convince people of its truth. Since there is zero evidence that random collections of stars have any effect on humans, I think it is fairly safe to assume that there is no basis in reality for astrology.
Part of the problem is that human minds are conditioned to assume that because B follows A, then it was caused by A. It might have been, or it might not. Correlation is not the same as causation.
Incidentally, I was born under the sign of Hammy the Hamster.
I'm a classic Capricorn from 1957 and was born 150 years old but getting younger every decade (except in appearance :( ). I'm married to a mid-sixties Leo and don't I bloody well know it too ;)

You make a humerous example, but look at Scientology that apears to be complete nonsence, but some people belive in it! All I am saying is that I have an open mind to these things I don rule them out because I see no reason too! People make these things a part of there life and they obviously mean something to those people, to say they are complete nonsence without any solid evidence is as daft as them saying the oposite!
If you choose to belive in these jelly babys then that is your business I will happily accept it as part of your life ... Try and shove it down my throat or hurt other people then I might take issue, but apart from that if that's what you belive, in my world, I would accept it as a possibilty and be happy for you if you were happy in your belife! I would even allow you the time to tell me about it if you ao desired.. I might even challenge it, but I would never tell you are wrong, that, to me, would be rude!

What have rights got to do with it?
If I have four CDs in one pile and five in another pile then I have nine CDs in both piles. A rather simple example of scientific investigation, perhaps, but I don't need a 'right' to express it surely?
If the proponents of astrology fail to deliver any rigorous, peer-reviewed evidence of the effect of the distant stars on human beings on earth - as they have consistently failed to do for centuries now - then I do not need a right to publish my view that astrology is bunkum.

No body has proven gods existance either and there is even more belivers in various gods! I'm not sure we are going to come to any sort of conclusion on this one ya know, we obviously take a very very different stance on these things
all I'm saying really is that I am happy for people to belive what ever they like and if enough people belive in it, to a point I am happy to acknowledge there might be some truth in it without needing any proof - don't get me wrong though, I don't buy into every bit of religion or astrology, I have my own views, I just let all these things sit in a category of i don't deny or accept them fully... That's just the sort of chap I am :)

One reason why I feel distressed with the current spats going on here and elsewhere is that they affect everybody who reads them and this is such a shame.
