View Full Version : Wanted - sub £300 dac
I'm after a dac with great detail, big soundstage and a analogue feel to it.
Budget is sub £300, I can stretch for the right thing, I've enjoyed a lot of what I've heard from NOS 's dacs (MHDT Havana for example apart from slightly rolled tops and bit of a lack of bass) so maybe a Metrum Octave or suchlike. Also considering the Beresford Caiman SEG ( thought the Caiman I heard was ok, not sure how big a step the new one is).

I recently bought the Schiit Modi Multibit at £250. I am very pleased with it and I hate any harshness. HiFi World said it was excellent but had some reservations. HiFi Choice (I think) had similar enthusiasm without these concerns. In view of the lack of any chance to compare against other manufacturers products I decided to go for it. I have no regrets.
I think it can be returned if any buyer is dissatisfied. I would like to compare it with the Caiman SEG if an opportunity arises.

sure thing, anything to stop those eBay fees.
what are you offering, considering the extra items that are included and it's in mint condition.
Sorry sent you a pm before I saw this. I don't really need the extras, I have all the cables I need to be honest....
I have a Teac UD-501 that will hopefully be up for sale soon, when my Rega DAC R comes back from Rega.
It's a really smooth and laidback DAC.
This!
That!
Buy the Rega...seriously.
Sorted, thanks for the offers and suggestions.
I've decided to give the rega a go...
