decisions decisions eh!
Id be interested in your thoughts on the AT as although its an MC and I have no MC phono stage at present it seems like it might be a logical next step for me when the time & funds allow a cartridge change.
Is zat a black there mike ? :)

You only need a sut then you can use a MC cart :)

Yip sure is, still out running errands just now, AT fitted last night and quick listen this morning over coffee, sounds good, I have a spare wand so can have both ready to drop in and listen within a few minutes of each other [emoji4]

Lol, yeah, bloomin' eedjit
2m Black working fine now, I'll try and get a decent listen to both carts tomorrow, but at the moment having heard both for a couple of sides I'm preferring the AT over the Black, but I'll need to wait on a phono stage arriving before I make a final decision on which one I'm keeping, if any lol.
I'll try and give my thoughts on both cartridges after listening.
Fancy the at myself between the 2. Alan rated it I think with his viviant
He did, but we did not try the 2M Black.

Yip, I best him to buying this one as is been wanting to try one for ages and with the thread that CageyH started that mentioned how good it sounded with the Vivant I thought it best to buy it pronto. Just having to use it on my built in stage at the moment and away for a week from Saturday so no chance to try it with anything else.
My only concern about the AT is that when I played Sultan's of Swing by Dire Straits the vocals were recessed a bit and kind of hidden by the rest of the instruments?
However in quick comparison with the Black, it had much wider soundstage and better imaging.
A longer listen to both is needed to see which I prefer, oh and putting it through a separate stage ( once I get my hands on it lol )
a better stage might change that.
a better stage might change that.
That's what I'm hoping, hopefully get my hands on one the weekend after next ;)
In fact it's the handover delay that caused the purchase of the 2 cartridges. I'll need to find more funds lol
A few more hours on the AT will also help.
The 2M Black is a fussy cartridge regarding set up. Get it right and it sings.
And if you want to get rid of the AT, Alan may be interested, so you will need less funds....

+1 Absolutely correct in my experience but definitely worth it !

Tips would be good if anyone has any.
So far I have it set via Clearaudio Protractor ( Ali's, which he WILL get back lol ) 1.5g tracking, and cartridge level to playing surface.
It sounds decent enough, but soundstage is quite narrow, the AT fills the room a bit better.
Go the the top end of the VTF range, and try lowering the arm slightly. If you do a quick Google, there is plenty of I go on this.

Thanks, I'll give that a go this morning ;)

:)
I've packed the AT away as I don't have time to redo setup and listen for that long today as we are away on holiday tomorrow morning so I'm just trying the Black at the moment.
