Does anybody know how to set the outputs on the XLR'S/RCA via the players internal dip switches on a Wadia 381 CD player? The manual says they can be set for Default 2 mV or can be set to 4/8 mV internally but is a dealer fix. I would like to buy one but would need to reset to higher volts for my system. I do know that it can be used as a Pre amp but the same still applies if using the inbuilt volume control.

Regards Robert.

If you are buying one from a dealer, they should be able to do it for you. With the 861 it was a case of lifting the lid but I have never seen a 381 in the flesh, but I would imagine its the same. As an aside I think, if I recall right, there were reliability issues with these particular machines, but I can't recall what it was. Maybe someone else can recall what it was. I remember thinking about getting one but was put off by some info I found out, in fairness though it was the SACD version, so whatever was an issue might not apply to the CD only 381.

I ended up with a Moon Andromeda.
