F/S Consonance Ref 2.2 Cd player.

For Sale Consonance Ref 2.2 Cd player. It has a valve fitted a 6HP30p for the analogue side RCA connections only and Balanced out no valve just straight out of the player, It also has a Co axial RCA output loads of good reviews out there. In the light wood finish. Bought new in late 2011 and only done 100 hrs I prefer vinyl so just sat there most of the time not being used. I may swop for a good Cd transport. I paid £1750 for it hoping to get £450 inclusive of UK postage or very near offer.The marks you see on the front plate are my messy fingers, one very small mark in the wood on top otherwise perfect.All working as it should.

I'm in the market for a cd player. I have owned, and liked, a Rega Apollo so would want a step up from that. Any idea how this might compare?

Hi I am not sure if I am qualified to answer your question regards to Rega Cd players.

The Consonance is a very good player it was nearly £2000 when new, it has Bal and un Bal outputs. The Bal would be very detailed like the Rega but the Consonance up samples to 24/192 giving further improvements to the sound. The un Bal goes through the valve 6H30P this brings a bit of warmth to the sound but still has the detail. I have found up grading the valve to a Electro Harmonix 6H30Pi brought further improvements. the better the system the better the Consonance sounds. if you read on the net there are lots of glowing reviews of this player, I have only used for around 100 hours but it would benefit more with extra hours on it, I think the Consonance is very analogue in its presentation, I am only getting rid of it as I have just bought a Wadia 381 to replace.
