I own a Hammer N3300 bandsaw that I purchase second hand in 2011 , It was made in 2007 so is 9 years old

I have hardly used this since purchase maybe 1 hour in total , The previous owner was a home hobby user as well . I collected it from his garage .

My problem is as follows

I needed to reduce the thickness of a 2 meter length of wood , Loosened off the bristol leaver making the fence movable , moved the fence to the desired position , started tightening the bristol leaver by hand ( No spanners or sockets ) then the end of the fence the opposite end from the leaver started moving across the table towards the right hand side of the table , Then I heard a clink ( something fell on the floor ) it was part of the cast iron fence , Looking at the failed part when I had removed it from the bandsaw you can clearly see the casting is crystallised shiny and grainy looking .

I have already paid £89 for a replacement part and sent the failed part back hoping for some support from Felder Hammer

What are your opinions on this please

It will not be under any guarentee i would have thought. Same time, the unit should last longer that that without going that way as well. Maybe take some pics and ask them their avice as to it being perhaps a duff casting

After nine years, I would be surprised if any company would offer anything but commiserations, especially as you don't know how the previous owner treated it. Yes, the casting could have been faulty but if so, it did well to hold up for nine years. At least it was only the fence and not the bed.
