Hi all,
In my excitement to buy some isonoe feet from robbiegong I got the thread size completely wrong on my TT. The isonoe have M6 male threads and my TT has M4 female threads. Does anyone know if the M6 Allen bolt on the feet can be removed and replaced with a smaller bolt ?
Thanks
Oliver

I am pretty sure it can be removed, but you may need a small washer and/or an M4 nut to keep things tidy.

Thanks Cagey. Mini panic over.

I've removed that Allen bolt a couple of times to replace broken O rings.

Does it fasten to anything on its way through the foot ?

It is quite possibly threaded, hence the need for a washer and nut.
I can't remember to be honest.
Or if you can get it to stay put it could(the bolt) be glued into place in the foot. The downside to that is it wont readily come out again so last resort.

There is always the possibility of gluing grant lol. I think the nut and bolt idea will be the best bet.

Something like this could work well - http://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemDescV4&item=201499994097&category=42901&pm=1&ds=0&t=1478528687912
The M4 ones need an 8mm hole though.
Rivnuts coukd be a good alternative.

Hmmm that's not a bad idea actually

This is what I was looking for:

Fit them in the Isonoes and get some M4 bolts of the same length as the Ines fitted in the Isonoes.

CageyH, that's brilliant. Saves me drilling out the TT which is always a concern lol. Thanks !!

Just check that the Isonoes are threaded first.

Yep, will do.

I believe that they are, as you spin them on by hand when fitting them.

Ok, I'll modify them accordingly. Won't buy anything until they arrive though. !

So, started the surgery today and turns out no drilling was necessary. 9mm holes were already present for the rivnuts. Thanks Cagey. Her are some pics.

I used Gorilla Glue gel which seems to have worked well. I decided to fill the huge gaps at the back and as its a gel and not liquud, no danger of running. Or so I thought.
Disaster !!!

It ran and started turning white. I'm absolutely gutted.
Anyone know if I can get this off ? Can't sand it surely.
Any hoo, still waiting for the feet to arrive but looks like we're ready to go.
Next to drill the threads out of the tonearm fixing holes. See what I can break next.

That's a shame Oliver. The staining may come off with the right treatment and some care. If the inserts are not firmly stuck, go with the Super Crylic mate. It works and won't run.

It is a shame. Feet are well stuck and look like they won't go anywhere. I'll try the nail varnish remover technique. If that doesn't work I have no idea.

Anything you use, test it on a bit of the finish on the underside first. I don't like the idea of nail varnish remover. It's likely to take all the paint off. Experiment with some Brasso. Being slightly abrasive it may be enough to take off the glue smear without damaging the paint, but go careful and test first. If you end up with a slightly shiny patch from polishing, that can be toned down with a careful rub with kitchen cream cleaner.

That's a good idea. I'll try that.

Brasso didn't work. Thinking I might just send it to be powder coated. What colour though ?????

whats the plinth made of? theres alot of heat involved in powder coating.
Bigman80

It's a composite base. Not sure of construction material to be honest. May go a different route just in case lol.

Pearlised deep maroon.
Oh. And you can't powder coat it. The base is epoxy based and will not cope with the heat.
Have it done in two pack auto enamel. Find a friendly local car sprayer.

Sold. Lol. Seriously, only thing that concerns me is the loss of print on the controls. I have a guy who repairs car bodywork and he'll do it for next to nothing.

All is not lost Oliver. Dunno why it didn't cross my mind before. I have a spare complete SR-370. I was only keeping it for spares and may consider exchanging it with you. It only has three feet and one button is wrong. It may not be quite as tidy, but is presentable as far as I recall (not looked at it for years).
If you're getting it sprayed, it's got to be gunmetal grey metallic :)

Give me a day or so. It's up in the (nice dry) loft. It may take a bit of fishing out, there's a heck of a lot of stuff up there.

Ha, no problem mate. No rush at all. If you see anything I might like. Let me know. A Counter weight ring for the Mission 774 is on my eBay watched search.

Feet are now on, arm re assembled and set up to perfection. Just need to get rid of the hum.
Straight away on the first listen it's like the TT is Alive. Didn't realise how much difference the feet could make. I never heard it with the stock feet which were sprung too.
Wow.

Looks good Oliver.
I love those Toshibas. So underrated (so far).
You realise you could get away with just respraying the front face of the base by the look of it, just to hide the blemish. It would be worth getting a paint specialist to mix some. Or having a good car sprayer match & spray.
Me personally. I'd do it myself, but I'm quite handy at that sort of stuff. Not everybody is. (I've even got paint the right colour I think :))

Just needed to ruin the cosmetic appearance of my TT with super glue. [emoji12]
I bought some Rivnuts and glued them into the existing holes. All went well until the gorilla gel turned to liquid and ran down the front of the TT. Other than that it was very straight forward.
The sound is better than before. No doubt.
