I've done many complete tweak-dismantling of my SME tonearm from it's plastic bedplate to this day. The bedplate grommets are now falling appart (only 2 are still complete) and I'm not hearing any issues about that particularly. I was contemplating buying some new ones maybe...
Since, I've read that the 'bass' could benefite accordingly when those grommets are taken off, I'm in doubt once again. Now I will trial that when I'll have to swap the top plate of my Thorens turntable and dismantle it all a last time (until...) but I would appreciate some read some comments on such a tweak for those who have trial that.
Mind you that I understand the theories of the damping and ringing as such and that one set-up would benefit from a tweak where others won't. It's all to do with every bit of combination between the "A's to Z's" that makes every phono systems a "bio-hazard" on it's own. Still, comments on such experience are welcome.
