The CD is definitely better than the vinyl. I have both and the CD has better weight, depth, clarity and ambience. Something was clearly got 'not quite right' during the translation into vinyl.

In this instance, even from a staunch vinyl fanboy, I'd have to agree. The vinyl version sounds a trifle 'murky' in comparison...

This may have come about due to KB (who's into audio in a reasonably serious way) wanting a 'warm analogue sound' for the album, so I suspect that some sonic tailoring in the studio would've occurred, which may have over-egged the pudding somewhat on the vinyl version.

I also find that there is a certain warmth to the Vinyl that somehow makes it not as tangible nor as musically compelling as the CD........which is a fairly rare occurrence!

I have the CD, Aerial is certainly my favorite, although Hounds of Love a close second.

I have the vinyl, but its still factory sealed never played. Must say I think, based on the CD, that Hounds of Love is still my favourite KB album, followed by Never Forever, and Sensual world.

Kate is an excellent artist and thoughtful performer...it seems that there is a live album out in the next week or two and two special programs about her to preview it on BBC Radio over the next week.

I love Aerial, especially disc 2. Rolf Harris aside, its a wonderful piece of music and very evocative. Can't listen to pigeons in the garden now without thinking of this, and what they're saying...
