Hi all,
I have decided to sell my Copper Dac to fund another project.
This Dac uses some very high quality components/materials and sounds very good indeed.
Has replaced some very respected equipment.
More info can found by searching this forum for Copper Dac.
The output is around 9volts so will drive most power amps directly via an interstage volume pot.
£500 ono including postage

I have one probarly not up to the same spec of this but a great sounding DAC Well worth the money
Oh nooooooo !
I'm doomed : Duncan sells the dac I've always wanted to have, but I've made too many expenses lately !!! :(
*this ad destroyed my week...*:wah:
Have a happy sale Duncan, this is one of the prettiest piece of electronics ever made !
This item deserves to sell almost immediately, as what Duncan is charging for is simply parts cost plus a (very small) amount of his time.
Quite simply, this is an amazing piece of equipment and really deserves some sort of an award. I'm not being flippant here. Having had the pleasure of its company for while I can say quite categorically that it's one of the best DACs I've ever heard, and that if it were a commercially produced item it would retail for the very minimum at £4k.
In terms of pure sound quality, though, and its ability to compete in the marketplace with branded high-end commercial products, add a '1' to the front of that figure!
Good luck with the sale, Dunc. When I want one, you'll have to build it from scratch now! :eyebrows: ;)

Why not buy that then!
'Cos it's too near Chrimbo, matey, and I've got loads of other committments. Even I ain't got a bottomless pit :eyebrows: ;)

I'm with yer..
Duncan - I've looked at some of the other threads (the piccies have gone AWOL, on the old ones BTW) - but can't find the info - what input(s) & output(s) does it have? Not that I can afford it either, but just to persuade myself it wouldn't be suitable anyway... ;)

This is well worth every penny if you times price by 10 you get idea of where this unit operates at
Is it possible to plug the Copper Dac to a preamp, or its output is too high ?

I think Marco got good results hooked up to his Croft.
Hi Dimitri,
It depends on the preamp. It worked pretty well with the Croft, although a slight reduction in gain would have been welcome.
If you're interested, get the necessary spec for your preamp and check with Duncan. He'll be able to advise accordingly :)

Ah, okies...
Tommy's gonna be a very happy chappie ;)
Is the design 100% finalised now (since the new diode tweak)? Just so I know for next year when I ask you to build me one :)
Marco.
Totally off the wall, but oooohhhhh sooooo loverly....
Much as I admire the Caiman and the AVI active cleverness, products/projects like this just stir the soul.......
It does precisely that when you listen to it too - trust me... Whilst no doubt the Caiman is a superb product at its price point (and considerably beyond), with the copper (or brass) DAC, you're entering into a totally different league! ;)
Marco.
