Croft preamp for sale.

2 X RCA 6SL7 in the phono stage and 1 x Raytheon 6SL7 in the line stage.

Lots of other gubbins in there too, I'm not sure what they do! Maybe some of you learned folk could advise.

The case is gorgeous, it's so cool looking with the blue LEDs against the black perspex. These seem to be rare.

It's also has an incredibly heavy gauge polished steel lid which gives it a really solid feel.

Don't know why Mr. Croft stopped using this case - cost maybe.

Lovely full musical sound, big bass. I much preferred it to the current £700 Croft model which I have also tried in my system. Single volume is a lot handier too:)

Two things to mention, I haven't tried the phono stage as I don't have a TT (but no reason to believe it's not fine) and the volume pot is a bit noisy right at the bottom (but fine in normal listening range) so will need cleaned or replaced. It's a 100K Alps blue, about a tenner on Ebay.

Would make a fine "pimp my ride" project for someone wanting to make a super-preamp.

I have a spare set of valves which will be included in the sale, RCA and Raytheon. No idea of the hrs on any of the valves.

Will be well packaged for travel.

New replacement Alps Blue from HIFi Collective now fitted using WBT solder and this preamp is sounding better than ever.

Clarity and definition improved, old pot must have been a bit gunky :)

With just a few updates this will wipe the floor on current models IMO.
