Astonishingly good for the money and can be set up as either an integrated or power amp with easily switched jumpers. 20w or thereabouts, in great condition with box, manual, psu and power lead. Jerrys review here

Good, these, especially with big sensitive speakers. In fact can be incredible.

I agree Grant. I've used it with ART, living voice and now the odeons and it's worked well with all of them. I particularly like the option to defeat the volume pot and run it into a preamp.

I was using it for background music, tidying, parties etc to preserve 300b life but it's better than that in truth. Using the almarro more and more now and less worried about burning through 6c33cs as they're cheap and I have three sets spare

---- I already have one and I agree the best use i've found is to run as a power amp ---- anyone know if they can be easily turned into a monoblock ? I q fancy seeing how they'd sound in that config with my MAD speakers which are single wired but nice and sensitive ..... if it can be done I'll take this off of you if I may but if it cant or it requires ANY sort of techy skill then please others feel free to go in ahead of me ....... and if it cant be done I may have one to sell myself shortly should anyone fancy a pair !

cheers

I did what i should have done before posting (!) and just checked the website ---- they can't be turned into mono's but they can abv be used to bi-amp so without wishing to jump on Jake's thread if someone requires a pair let me know BUT PLEASE BUY from JAKE FIRST !!! .... hope you dont mind jake

Cheers Chris ... don't think they're bridgable as they are so it'd probably take some mucking about with to fix that up. Well beyond my tech knowledge that's for sure!

its to do with the chip itself rather than the amp --- to quote the website ( and look as though i know what the fe*k I'm talking about which I realy dont !

CAN I RUN THE MINI-1 AS A "MONO BLOCK" OR MONO OUTPUT AMPLIFIER ?
Sadly no, the Amptastic Mini-1 cannot be used as a traditional mono / mono-block amplifier. It is a limit to the internal Tripath chip design, not the Mini-1. This is because the Tripath amplifier chipset is bridged internally and operates in a BTL configuration. Customers looking for the highest quality and efficiency may decide to vertical bi-amp if they have bi-wirable speakers.

would think you could biamp in power mode easiy enough. Sure some one on the Scotia Nostra tried it.. maybe tony.. weeteehee I think, got some cables made up

90% of class D amps are already bridged as standard. The issue being that the black speaker terminal is NOT earthed as in most non bridged amps and is as "live" as the red terminal!

Hi Guys,

I have an Amptastic Mini 1 which I use in my computer room to drive some very modest but also IMHO greatly underrated JBL Control 1s. It is a great amp and works well with high efficiency (88-90DBw) near field monitors too.

GLWTS:)

regards

Chris
