Help with Technics tonearm re-wire problems

Hi all,

I've had problems with my re-wired Technics tonearm.

I've re-wired it with a continuous run from socket to phono stage. It's got a metal coaxial shield from tonearm base to RCAs.

The arm sounds awesome but I've had these problems:
- in our old house I picked up CB radio and certain lights going off and on caused crackling (no issues like this in our new house!)
- when I attempted to use the arm with a separate phono stage it caused humming (but if I connected the tonearm ground to the earth point on my active preamp instead of the point on the phono stage the humming went away!)

I was wondering if any members had tried a continuous run type of re-wire and how successful they were.

I'm trying to sell the arm locally for about £160 together with some tasty extras. But I've made it clear in the auction the problems it has so understandably I have no takers:

It's one made by Magna Audio, known as SpeedySteve on most Forums.

They have a trade section here, highly recommended, he made an ebony armboard for my 1210 to fit my Mission 774 arm.
