Philip Glass and Robert Wilson’s abstract opera premiered in 1976, launching Glass’s career as an opera composer and making his name internationally. The five-hour work only received its UK premiere in 2012 in a production that was a revival - by Wilson himself - of the original staging. It was filmed at Paris’s Théâtre du Châtelet and is now available for the first time on DVD on Opus Arte.
