I just joined "the Art of Sound" a few days ago. Browsing the forum, I found your thread totally ignored! Loved Dylan to death when I was younger and he was younger, perhaps up to Blood on the Tracks. I grew up in Japan and started listening to Dylan around 1967. The funny thing is that I didn't know English well enough to understand his lyrics. But I loved his music. He is one of the main reasons that I left Japan for the US in 1971, at the age of 19. I wanted to go to the land where Dylan lived. What's your relationship with Dylan over the years?

Back in the 60s, a neighbour of mine who treated me as his son and who was a guitar enthusiast gave me a copy of the album Bob Dylan - I have been hooked ever since. I suspect that like you, I prefer his earlier material although I was never upset by his moving to electric guitar. I just love his lyrics.

Incidentally, I am also a Leonard Cohen fan and am saddened that he has passed away - I rather like poetry, I quite like the Liverpool Poets (Adrian Henri, Roger McGough, Brian Patten et al)

Sorry, I haven't visited this site for a while. And it's so nice to see your response. I love poetry, too. I got my Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (focused on poetry) at the University of British Columbia, Canada. Totally ignorant of the Liverpool Poets. Thank you so much for the lovely poem by McGough. It's so interesting to see how Dylan has been responding to the Nobel prize announcement. What's your take? I rather like it. Like a rolling stone, that's how I have lived, too.
