Don't like it much. A few good tracks but not enough to get my wallet out!

It's not their best album, but I don't think it is the worst either.

I've listened to it a few times and Touch it is not. It isn't "biting" - if an album doesn't "bite", it is probably a bit sh*te in my book.

It's more of a grower than Touch... However, spin it a few times and let the vibe sink in, then turn the volume up and the lights down low, and play 'Give You the World' (with the awesome Malia), through to 'Dark Side', and if that doesn't light up yer groovy buttons, then you're officially dead! ;)

'Electrified II' and 'Kiss the Cloud' are also great tracks. And get the vinyl version, which I have, as that improves the whole overall experience:

Yepp, Marco is spot on, Toy is a grower! To me its a better album than Touch.
And the vinyl sounds amazing!

Of course the production is top notch care of Mr Boris Blank but its not a great album - Frautonium and Starlight Scene are good but not sure about the rest.

Mmmm, interesting. I think I may have to listen to it before I buy instead of just buying it to feed my obsession with Yello music. Thanks for the guidance good sirs.

Marco.

Taken a long time for me to decide but after hearing kiss the cloud via digital sonic nirvana at Steves I ordered Toy on vinyl.
Still £20 on Amazon. Don't want to leave it any longer, have you seen how much it would cost you to buy Convergence or Electrified on vinyl!!

Toy is a fabulous album, as is Touch - but Convergence is simply stunning on vinyl - I play it every listening session. Truly sublime.

Glad I bought Convergence on vinyl too as it is a stunning album especially the production. I believe Mr Blank is one of the very best producers out there. I have listened to much of his material on a high end digital system and no one can better him on dynamic awesome electronic production. Much of his work especially some of "Electrified" is simply stunning music production and a benchmark for what can be done with electronic music in the studio.

Took me a bit of time to get my head round Toy which actually refers to his studio and recording equipment I believe. However there is some superb material on this album especially his work with Fifi Rong, I hope he works with her again as has done with Malia!

I have to say Yello are one band that have escaped my attention. Maybe now is the time to check them out. What would be a good starting point folks?

All their albums are superb for production but has a slightly different flavour. Their later albums are maybe a little less 'quirky' but prices are ridiculous. I'm looking for Electrified but it's going for £600 which is a lot of albums by other artists.

Wish I had bought Touch on vinyl, sadly now astronomically expensive. Also recommend Flag, this maybe still available at a reasonable price.

I managed to get Touch and Convergence before they shot up. On my wish list is Electrified and Pocket Universe.

Most other albums are now available on reissue, such as Flag.

A friend of mine did the launch for Electrified on vinyl down in London and met Mr Blank, lucky chap. It was quite an interesting event I believe as there were about 200 folk in a room including Mr Blank not expecting anything extraordinary from vinyl but my mate had other ideas and unleashed 'One Minute to go' from the album which made the whole room turn round I think with jaws dropped!

KEF blades used in anger are not for the feint hearted!

I wish they would re release some of their earlier LP's,I missed everything from The Race until Touch, managed to get used copies of most, but had to resort to CD's for many.Having heard Baby on vinyl some years back, did a search but the prices were mad.

They may well be re released as Flag has been on MOV label. I will be buying Touch for sure if it is back out on vinyl.
I think what happened with Convergence is the HIFI shows picked up on how superb the production was and of course the music and sales quickly evaporated the limited stock on vinyl. I think the same may happen to Toy as production is amazing and some of the tracks are stunning.

I really would have liked Electrified on vinyl - this is mind and system blowing stuff. Heard some tracks the other night albeit via digital and it was simply awesome!

Market demand - I've put out feelers with some contacts and will go up to €300 for a clean set - but not €700!

3LPs, 2CDs, DVD,cassette, book. Think it was good value when this 60 track selection came out. Some of the material on Electrified is fabulous.

I believe Boris Blank has a huge amount of material he has worked in in the past. Let's hope more comes up for release.

I have a feeling and may have read somewhere Toy might be the last Yello album but it won't be the last thing Mr Blank releases! I am hoping he does some more work with Malia and Fifi Rong.:)

I remember playing Convergence at Nebo when it first came out and it blew people away. As did London Gramma.:)

Pity LG have not kept the same haunting spiritual vibe they had with their first album. Every track I have heard so far from their second album leaves me uninspired.

Listening to it at the moment, it's a grower.
I'm liking 'Tool of Love' and 'Dialectical Kid' but need to play it more (and more).

Production quality is amazing :D

'Lost in Motion' on and fabulous. Great to be able to turn it up without deterioration ;)

More boring electronic noise:eyebrows:

I think I'll stick to Bach.

Yes some of the material is challenging but kiss the cloud and starlight scene are superb. Many of the other tracks including Electrified II, Pacific AM, Blue biscuit and Magna have awesome sonics and the stunning production allows you to crank it up without any deterioration in SQ as you have found.:)
