View Full Version : Help me replace unrippable tracks on CDs

This sounds thoroughly dodgy, but I personally feel comfortable with it, knowing I own (or at least my sister, whom I'm ripping these CDs for, owns) the CDs in questions.

I'm currently ripping my sister's CD collection to iTunes for her, and I'd like to replace some unrippable tracks, and wondered if someone on the forum fancied sending me a lossless copy: preferably ALAC or WAV?

For example, at the moment I'm looking for a 5m13s226ms copy of David Bowie's Space Oddity (the one with the synth and drums, not the minimalist acoustic guitar version). This track on my CD gets halfway through ripping then reports 1000+ hours to complete---I was rather hoping to have the library completed by Christmas :lolsign:

I feel a bit awkward asking, given the grey legal area. If anyone objects to my asking this I apologise, and will happily have the thread pulled by an admin :) . If no-one objects, then there are a few more tracks I need, but I'll mention them later.

Thanks :)

Which software do you use ? if it's dbPOweramp, you should perhaps try "Fast ripping" for damaged tracks

Simon,

I have 2 Versions, one on the Singles Collection, and one on another collection called Changes. They both come in at 5:16 so I think they're the same.

I'm sure they both start with acoustic guitar though. I didn't know there was another version. What cd is it from?

p.s. Have you tried XLD, or MAX?

D'oh! In the middle of writing a long response to you both, it occurred to me that all the tracks I've been unable to rip were last tracks on their CDs. I suddenly realised it must be a drive issue, so just tried ripping the track on my laptop instead and it was fine. Honestly, though, I should have tried that anyway. Don't know why I didn't.

Can an admin just delete this thread please? Seriously.

Apologies for the time-wasting. In all fairness not been feeling 100% lately… ;)

Honestly, any admin, please delete this thread…

No worries at all, should I add !
The main thing is that it got sorted, it caused no trouble at all, Simon. :)
