Considering AOS champions SPPVFM products I wondered if any of you lot would like to debate the best ever cheap as chips (or something <£100) mono cartridge. I must admit it's an area that I've usually avoided due to having no interest in mono recordings but since the DECCA revelation I wondered if something existed out there which we could recommend as the champion mono cartridge for people on a budget who to play MONO recordings. The inspiration for this quest came from the large debate about the Shure M55E. This thread is just a bit of fun bit would really like you guys to get behind it.

If you give me a couple of weeks I'll let you know how I get on with a 0.0011 conical diamond being fitted for me onto a mono wired Shure M75...

I think the Audio Technica AT-MONO3LP is the closest match to the OP's (optimistic) price specification http://eu.audio-technica.com/cartridges/AT-MONO3LP .

Buy a good quality mono ceramic cart from eBay. You can still get new examples. Then buy an early seventies Japanese integrated amp with 'xtal' phono input. A Trio or Teleton would do and use the 'tape out' to feed a line input on your amp. Sorted, for under fifty quid if you're lucky. Some of the ceramics can sound quite decent too.

I have recently purchased this very cart on recommendation, but I haven't actually had time to try it yet, but happy to appraise when I have if anyone is interested.

Yes please. Today I sent off my M75 to Expert Stylus Co who are going to mono wire it and fit me a 0.0011 conical diamond (1.0mil) which they tell me will be a good budget way to listen to old monos... I was considering the MONO3/LP but couldn't find enough about it online to tip me over the edge.
