Since I'm in this post, I will post details of my hardware:

The system is morphing to Ras-pi CAS (computer audio system) pumping ripped CD from a USB pen into a USB DAC.
The SLA-1 has a input sensitivity adjust that I use as volume control so that another stage (pre-amp) can be dispensed with.
