Hi, I put this on blank canvas and didn't get any comments, can I try here

I have two outputs from my CD TAGMclaren and two DAC's connected, is there any reason for not keeping DAC's and CDT powered up permanently, only using one DAC at a time?

There is a school of thought that says it is better to have a little stuff powered up as necessary on the grounds that it could be putting 'nastiness' back into the mains and hence into the sound. It is controversial, but I always switch off the cd player when I switch on the turntable, and vice versa. Especially if the DACS use wall wart SMPS blocks to power them it could arguably make a slight drop in sound quality.

Thanks guys for your comments, as I understand it there is no technical reason for me not to do this, but I may find an degradation in sound quality?

Try it with both connected, and switch one off and unplug it... see if you hear a difference. I'm betting you wont.

I changed a DAC because it limited High res to 96 Khz my new one displays 192kHz which made me happy , can't hear any difference of course :D

I have a Musical Fidelity M1 and Arcam rDAC it's interesting comparing them from the same source and amplification.

I would say the rDAC has the edge on detail, dynamics and soundstaging, but I do prefer the MF on some music.

Digital cable is Atlas Ascent Ultra and analogue connects are Van den Hul D102 hybrid.

I bought these Dacs after my venerable DPA Little Bit DAC failed terminally, parts not available to fix.

Did you try Chevron Audio? Colin used to repair and upgrade DPA dacs.

Yes, Colin re-capped it some months ago, but the processor failed and is obsolete. He could have used a Sabre set to upgrade it, but it was more cost effective to buy my current DAC's pre-owned.
