I might be doing my first bit of electronics DIY by transferring the contents of a valve amplifier from a Naf box into something a bit more special. I am looking for an all aluminium box (not black) with some ventilation but no other casework holes.

I have seen some on E bay but most come from abroad with massive postal charges.

Can anyone recommend a UK seller.

Thanks

I wish I could! Many hours I have spent recently on just this... It's either cases from China.. with big postal costs, time to delivery anything from 2 weeks to 2 months and if there is any issue then you have a problem.... or there are a few in Europe that supply suitable casework. Obviously there are UK companies that do this type of thing but custom made and minimum orders apply. Most of the off the shelf UK stuff is a bit lacking in the aesthetics stakes;)

If you want it to look good expect to pay as much for an empty box as you would for a new budget amplifier from Richer Sounds:eek:

Maybe look more for Aluminium boxes, storage etc, rather than Amp box, sure you could find the size you need, or adapt one . Not sure if this site any good, first one i came across. I don't know anything about a 'Naf' box , so the page linked my be full of them.

Nice idea, but its rare to find such an old amp without scuffs and scratches - not quite what I'm after :)

Funnily I saw the Naf steel case I want to upgrade in that Site. There are other options, thanks.

+1 Expect.. a reasonable case to to be of similar costs to the parts bill for an Amp build.
Much more if wanting distinct appearance.
Even a passable DIY cobble up case will be pricey when all is said and done.
IMO IF it's worth doing .. it's worth doing it well
