Hardwood plinth for Thorens TD-160

Hi all

Anyone got any recommendations for a UK based Hardwood Plinth make for a Thorens TD-160 Mk1, Could make it myself but my wood butchering skills are not upto making accurate joints and anything less than perfect would bug the hell out of me.

Is there anyone in the Uk doing custom plinths or Europe if they ship to the UK.

Lots make them, although a fully hardwood one will be expensive. Most are veneered softwood. Which is sonically and aesthetically fine . Probably better for the planet too. Expect to pay £150/200 for one of those. A hardwood one will be a lot more.

Bought mine from Layers of Beauty on the internet. Think they are based in Rotherham. Solid white maple hardwood, no veneer.

Plinth? My understanding of plinth is a foot base arragement. Are you wanting that Or an entire new wooden replacement for the woodlike Thorens case ?
IF only after a base to attach/underlay the existing TT?
Then a piece of Stone from Kitchen supply installer (off cuts from Sinks) could be V inexpensive even when fettled to your wants.
Place/couple the TT to it with Blu Tack or similar.
That would mass couple it nicely.

Plinth?

Certainly in the UK, plinth or base are correct with reference to turntables. Common usage makes that so.
