I got a document from the USA yesterday when I opened it it was for me from the Nova Institute but when I closed it it nicked my address details and has mailed others. If you get this F--K--G thing delete it

I get dozens of spam and phishing e-mails every day including Alice Kipkalya who has a business opportunity for me and Ban Ke Moon offering me $64,000,000 just for me sending him all my bank details.

I don't know much about these things but when I put them in the 'spam' folder, I can see who they really are from. So, when I get an e-mail from "Outlook Express" or "Apple" I can see it really comes from some toe-rag in West Africa or wherever.

I don't open any e-mails if I don't recognise the sender. They are deleted and a block put on the sender.

A frequent scam is to be sent an e-mail from a supposed courier, saying they are trying to deliver something and need confirmation of your address.

I got a letter today from sky saying they owe me £30 fron an overpayment on my account...i dont know if it genuine or not tbh, although it looks fairly realistic. Trouble is ive not been with sky for 18 months. If i can summon up the energy i might contact sky independently and enquire as to its genuine ness. Certainly wont be using the number they gave. I find it unlikely that they took 18 months to spot it! I mean i know they are incompetent but thats stretching it a bit...also they would have had my account details and have my address so why not just refund it?

If it is asking for details, it's probably a scam.

If thats to me, its a letter in the physical sense.. its got sky logo on envelope and letter but i am suspicious..lol

I'm surprised they contact you out of the blue to try to refund you an overpayment. That's highly unlikely in my experience. Not impossible though.

I get loads, they go straight in to report spam. Must say they are getting clever, invoices to pay with attachment, memo from your meeting, pretending to be from yourself etc. Fed up with the seo idiots, and offers of manufacturing from China too :doh:

If in doubt don't and never follow a link from an email.

If it's a scam it'll want you to phone them on some number that will leave you with a hefty bill...best thing is go onto the web and get sky's number then ring that...
There's also a "you've missed a delivery" card doing the rounds in Birmingham also with a dodgy number.

On emails check the senders address and that will not look right (ie sky.hfyif@gmail.com kind of thing).. Don't click on any attachment or reply they will install a virus
