wanted,,,,cheap technics 1200/1210 mk2 turntable

after a cheap technics 1200/1210 mk2 turntable.
anything considered as im on very limited funds and everything seems to have gone crazy on ebay price wise regarding these....any help and love would be much appricated as ive just fallen in love again big time with my record collection:)
also have a very clean example technics sl-150 turntable with sme armboard adapter that i can part trade with or sell for £125 plus postage

I have a spare one, date of manufacture 1990. Top plate has been painted in a white Nextel type finish. Everything on it works perfectly. Would let it go for £200 but you would have to collect.

thanks for the offer and that looks idea and would jump on it,trouble is i live in penzance cornwall,im a full time carer to so theres no way i can ever get to pick it up....bugger!!

Hi Paul

That's unfortunate. As you say bit of a long drive from Penzance to here. Boxing these things for safe shipping isn't easy, and even then you take a chance that they arrive smashed up. Thought it worth offering in case you happened to live within striking distance. You can still get them on eBay around £200 to £250 plus postage but they tend to have little faults like the cuing light not working and so forth. Have you tried checking out your local gum tree ads? There are a lot of these decks around, persistence will pay off at some point.

Check out local DJ shops - if they have a noticeboard, stick a postcard in there, otherwise ask the staff and give them your contact details.
Same with Cash Converters and places like that.
They do come up and some of the chavvers who're likely to have bought them to become the next big thing often flog them to buy some tacky clothing or pay for a push-chair :mental:

Just wondering why you don't stick with the SL150? They are pretty good, and I'd guess there is not a massive difference between them and the SL1200. I'm no turntable expert but I have noticed over the years that improving the quality of the cartridge and the phono stage, and optimising set-up can make much bigger improvement than changing the motor unit.

i think i need to start a post with some questions and asks, as what you hit upon martin regarding keeping the sl150 and going hell for leather on it crossed my mind,but im guessing this isnt the area for that.
and i totally understand the reasons regarding posting martin and know exactly where your coming from......still,sure would of loved to have it.
one went yesterday minus tonearm for £120.....by the time i read the spill in the ad and clicked on buy ,it had gone.
i dont know what way to go really,think i really need to start a post stating my plight and woes and ideas and seek all your more knowledgeable thoughts and expertise on the way forward.
saying that i havent given up on your deck yet martin....im digging out my dusty address book to see if i know anyone that may be near you:)
ill put my post up first and see what you guys think and lead me:)

I agree. That's what I'd do. But I'd take the bottom off and add some mass/damping inside. That's all it needs really.
