I figure that I will have to spend quite serious money to improve on what I have although where i have duplicate vinyl and CD the vinyl is just slightly behind the more modern stuff the Nagaoka was regarded as a bit of a giant killer in it`s day and is pretty good with the 110 replacement stylus thinking about replacement arm or goldring 1042 as an upgrade?? views

You could always try a change of phono stage/ Alan Firebottle has a loaner of his design that does the rounds. had one myself actually, and they are very good. It might give your vinyl a lift.

As a fellow retiree, I can sympathise with your view that "decent" music died in 2000. But I'm always willing to listen to new acts and performers. Jools Holland's 'Later' on BBC2 is a very good way to hear new and recent acts. Another good source of, predominately, 'modern' music and of 'ethnic' or world-music (awful term) is 'Late Junction' on Radio 3.
