Thought this might be something to warn you of
I have been a seller on eBay for many years and most sales have gone without a hitch as I always follow eBays rules for selling and posting, until now that is, I suddenly got hit and it was a new one for me.
I make a sell a small custom tool used to service an expensive brand of Fountain Pen and have sold hundreds all over world, with only a few going missing and with those the Royal mail paid out so no big issue, until now.
Over the space of about 5 or 6 weeks the same buyer based in Spain bought 6 of them.
All were sent following eBays rules for sellers protection, that is sent to the address provided by PayPal, and sent using a postal service that offers on-line tracking, so royal mail international tracked and signed service was used.
I did not hear from the buyer again, until I suddenly after a few weeks started getting e-mails from PayPal saying the buyer has opened a not received case on each one.
I then checked all the tracking numbers on the royal mail site and every one was listed as delivered.
it now turns out PayPal unlike eBay do not accept the information on the royal mail site because it only lists the PostCode the parcel was delivered to and not the full address.
Also unlike eBay they say I should have photographed the envelope at the time of posting showing the full delivery address and the full postage paid, being in the UK the postage is not added until after I hand the packet over in the post office, I am sure the counter staff would object to me asking for it so I can photograph it.
It now looks like PayPal are going to give all my money back to this buyer and eBay can do nothing about it as they are now 2 different companies and although they claim they offer seller protection there is no option to activate it, it only works if a buyer tries to make a false claim, and as this buyer went via Paypal for his claim they can do nothing about it.
Fortunately my tools are not that expensive but I am still going to lose over £100 for doing nothing wrong. because I am losing the cost of international postage which I have paid out for.
Just a heads up for those of you that sell on eBay.
