I'm looking for an attractive plinth in which to put my Thorens TD 160 chassis. Could be wood or some other material but must look good cosmetically. Dust cover not essential unless already attached.

Hi Roger

A few people will build you one for a price. Russ Collinson has a good reputation.

Ash Pope did mine. A very good quality plinth too.

Thank you all for the advice. I have now ordered a plinth from DAS in Germany.

From a Linnie POV, may I suggest that if a third party plinth is ordered, can you ask the maker to put a suitable block in place to anchor the exit cables to, mains AND signal? It's my experience with hundreds of TD160's (off the back of the hundreds of LP12's) I once set up and updated back in the day that allowing the tonearm cables to float free and just wander out of the plinth slot isn't a good idea, for sonics or suspension competence. When I had the TD125, I made similar provision and it certainly helped this sample, which had a wayward spring..

Here's the lash-up I did for the TD125, with the rather nice AO exit cable I still use with the R200 -
