Aged 83 Gene was one of my alltime fav comedien actors. Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein jump into my mind but there were so many.

Tribute from long time collaborator Mel Brooks


Wilder was famous for playing Willy Wonka and starred in a number of films directed by Brooks.
They collaborated on Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and The Producers.
The director tweeted: "One of the truly great talents of our time. He blessed every film we did with his magic & he blessed me with his friendship."

There are some actors you know of, and others whose movies you have watched with great satisfaction. Gene Wilder falls in that category of actors whose movies are a pleasure to watch over and over again. To try to name his favourite movie is like asking which is your favourite child. I hope they show a couple of tribute flix on TV over the next week or so.

The Producers is one of my favourite films of all time. Both Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel are amazing in it.
