We had our electricity meter changed for a smart meter very recently, and I asked the techie if he could leave the old one with me.
I though that there was the possibility of extracting a current transformer, but no deal.
However the voltage coil can be used as a low power smoothing choke, inductance 20 Henries, DCR about 720 ohms.

I have cut off (brutal) the current sense section and as the meter was 3 phase I now have 3 off free chokes :)
