Their best selling beigel, is the one packed with salted beef. Some people like it with mustard!

Has anyone here tried the above?

My late Mum used to make Salt Beef, I remember her using Saltpeter in the process.

Now is that the brown rye bread? Sometimes salt beef sandwich is made with a white(ish) bread that has caraway seeds in it, and also called rye bread

As I don't live in London, or go there, I've never been to said shop. However, I like bagels. Aside from salted beef, do you know what other fillings they offer? :)

Like corned beef.... very like salted brisket thick cut... But prefer just boiled brisket non brined.

Americans say bacon improves everything.

You won't get bacon and cheese in most bagel shops though. I wonder why!

My Mum's salt beef had flavour, think chili was in the mix for the "salting" process.

Lightly toasting the cut bagel before filling is great.

nah, youve just been spoilt mate ;).. tastes fine if you cook it right, and you get some nice stock base for soup too

I'd need convincing... I'd certainly taste it and give you my opinion. Bear in mind that I have continental tastes, so am used to the heavy use of herbs and spices, garlic, etc, so that food is really tasty! ;)

In that respect, sometimes British food can be a bit bland for my palate :)

I don't actually like bagels. And yes, I've been to the Bethnal Green shop. Didn't like theirs either.

I'd far sooner have a nice bit of crusty Baguette from Parkers of Ealing!

My GF has a thing for M&S baguettes. Only M&S mind you - no other will do! :scratch:

Thinking the title to be a misspelling of 'bagel', I was going to edit the thread. However then I thought that both spellings might be correct.

No, she's tried Waitrose, Co-op, etc. It has to be M&S for her.
