I used to have one of those on an Alphason Sonata turntable. Those were the days.

One of the best tone arms made, before the introduction of one-piece cast arms. Excellent use of ceramic bearings. :)

Cherish it and look after it as they are no longer made, or serviced.

cheers barry, yes i know although j7 can replace the bearings if needed.
i was all set to mount it tonight but although its linn geometry the hole for the mounting collar is bigger at 30mm compared to linn at 25mm,until tomorrow then!

Terrific tonearm. One of the best methinks. The early ones had a habit of picking up radio frequencies although I believe this was fettled on later versions. This one looks lovely.

Hi, looks just like my one - the later ones had some foam sprayed into the wand - less resonant. I like this tone arm in use, only lacks azimuth adjustment, but whether this is essential is not clear to me. There seems to be those who say it is, some say its not required.

Is there two counter weights ? - standard and heavier one for heavier cartridges? - whats the weight of the heavy counterweight?

I have another one, non MCS version and labeled as a H100RS , it has everything the same but the arm wand is chrome/ metal coloured, satin (not supper shiny) finish - can anyone explain to me why this is? I can't find anything about why this is so.

thanks

Anthony

Surely the arm wand is earthed seperately? It can't depend on the ceramic bearings for earth continuity.

looking at mine it has been wired directly so no plug at the arm base,i believe these came with one standard weight and 2 optional ones, the other i have is in brass and made bespoke for the previous owner
as for picking up radio frequencies, well all i can hear in the quite grooves are local bloody taxis!

Try threading the arm cable through a ferrite ring. That should kill any RF pick up from taxis etc.

i will also quote you from 2012...I have one 'lurking around' but you'll have to prise it from my cold, dead hands - sorry! :D
thats what im thinking now!
its sounding very good on initial set up,if yours is close by could you tell me if there is a little screw that holds the arm lift rubber branch down, mine doesn't seem to have one.

As far as I know the MCS version is silver wired.

armboard made and tonearm fitted, best arm ive used so far by a long margin.
i was going to spray the armboard black as per the original but i think i will make an ebony one first and see which one is better.

Ha - it's still the case!

And, yes, mine does have a screw to hold the lift bar down. Doesn't do much good, though - the bar still moves around!

I almost went for one of these arms a few months ago but in the end decided on a Audiomods, no complaints so far but that is sure one sexy arm.
